Topic learning path
Romanian word order: from neutral SVO to topic and focus
Romanian clauses often use subject–verb–object order as a neutral baseline. Other orders depend on grammar and discourse context. Start by deciding whether to express or reposition the subject. Then place one object clitic before ordering a pair, and position adverbials by scope. Continue with topic, focus, and subordinate-clause order. Finish by checking when left or right dislocation uses a matching clitic. This route separates neutral order from context-dependent choices.
